About Me

Hi again! I'm Matthew Tjokro. I’m a graphic designer currently studying at UCLA under the Design Media | Arts major and Digital Humanities minor.

I am currently freelancing with Adobe, creating art and teaching design with their applications.

I’m originally from the Los Angeles area, and spent a lot of my childhood between West LA, Sawtelle Japantown, and Chinatown...

Later, my family and I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area. In high school, my friends and I took many trips into San Francisco to immerse ourselves in the art and culture the city had to offer. Still, I always found myself coming back to Los Angeles for the strong friendships I made there.

Because of my time spent between these cultural hotspots, I find myself endlessly inspired by the history of California and the development of Asian-American identity in this state.

MY CORE BELIEFS
Seek Challenges, Keep Learning

I seek to improve my capabilities as designer and creator by continuing to improve my solo projects and working in collaborative environments. I will strive to surpass what I believe myself to be capable the day before.

Engage with Collaborative Communities

We improve ourselves when we can rely on others to hold us accountable and help us grow. The strength of collaborative community helps us create impactful media through sharing strong input, feedback, and decision-making.

Embrace Changing Landscapes

We are at the crossroads of media, technology, and design: a high-paced, ever-evolving industry. I look to ride the currents to develop strong, tide-changing projects that can adapt and withstand the digital world by keeping up with new technologies, web platforms and design trends.

Be Passionate, Be Yourself

I enjoy what I do because I have the passion for the craft. I find all parts of the design process from start to finish to be fulfilling. At the end of the day, nothing would make me happier than to keep creating fantastic work with fantastic people
