Adobe Illustrator
Illustration, Visual Design
I was invited by the team at Adobe Live to represent what community means to me in a 4x6 inch illustration. The deadline was 7 days, in which I decided to divide my time by allocating 1 day for conceptualization, 2 days for asset illustration, and 4 days for feedback and final revisions.
The canvas size and prompt of “What does community mean to me?” helped guide my initial concepts. Travel and togetherness loosely-inspired its postcard travel theme, as many MAX attendees this year will be traveling to Los Angeles for the event specifically. For a layer of depth, I wanted each character interacting with one other from different sections of the postcard, to represent the creative community coming together for Adobe MAX.
Balancing characters on a smaller size canvas proved a challenge. However, once I overcame the problem, the character designs helped inform the layout of the card. The characters would take the forefront of the design, while the Los Angeles skyline would act as a backdrop for their community. The community’s different creative hobbies are complemented by icons that adorn the rest of the design, which represent the Adobe suite’s many capabilities that support creative endeavors.
